Markets wait for a direction

U.S. stocks are showing little movement this morning, as markets look to continue record highs. The S&P 500 is up 0.03% and the Dow is up 0.08%.

Asian stocks were mostly up Wednesday, though Hong Kong markets slipped. The Shanghai Composite was up 0.11% and the Nikkei rose 0.09%.

European markets are mixed today, as German consumer confidence data proved weaker than expected. Investors took solace in hopes for stimulus from the European Central Bank. This morning the FTSE is up 0.08%, and the DAX is off 0.14%.

Energy futures are up Wednesday. The West Texas Intermediate crude oil price per barrel is $94.16, up $0.30 and natural gas is up $0.04. Metals prices are mostly up today. Gold is up $2.30 and platinum is up $5.80. The Dollar is down against both the Euro and the Yen.

The Michaels Companies, Inc. ( MIK ), Aruba Networks, Inc.( ARUN ) and Express Inc.( EXPR ), are up today. Broadcom Corp. ( BRCM ), SeaDrill Limited ( SDRL ) and Sonic Corp. ( SONC ) are down.
