Liftoff: The Fed Awakens

No matter what happens in the economy, a good movie is always welcome

On May 19, 2005 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith made its debut in theatres. Just over a year late, in June 2006, the Fed hiked the overnight rate to 5.25%.

Rates were cut to zero 18 months afterwards and the Fed finally hiked again nearly ten years later.

If you're off to the movies this time, there's a new hope for a better economy and a better Star Wars. It's been since Return of the Jedi that the US economy has had a true inflation problem.
