Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Market Vectors Junior Gold Miners (GDXJ): One investor bought 9,000 May 28.63 calls for $1.30, looking for upside in the fund. GDXJ rose 1.54 percent to $23.37.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA): A block of 6,800 June 47.50 calls were bought for $0.60, but volume was below open interest in the strike. TEVA fell 1.43 percent to $40.21.

Lowe's (LOW): About 10,000 February 25 puts were bought for $0.89 to $0.92 as investors looked to hedge against a potential drop. LOW rose 1.82 percent to $25.52.

On Semiconductor (ONNN): A block of 16,000 January 5 puts was bought for $0.05 against open interest, probably the work of an investor closing a short position. ONNN rose 1.93 percent to $7.67.

General Growth Properties (GGP): A block of 15,000 February 14 puts was purchased for $0.64 as an investor looked for downside in the stock. GGP rose 1.09 percent to $14.88.
