Japan earthquake update - nuclear plant cooling concerns

The latest from TEPCO - the company says the cooling system for storage pool for spent nuclear fuel at No. 3 reactor at Fukushima Daiichi plant has been halted

Japan chief cabinet secretary Suga, news conference (Headlines via Bloomberg):

  • No radiation release from Dai-NI cooling system halt
  • No immediate danger of radiation leak from Fukushima

1 metre tsunami has hit Fukushima ... UPDATE and clarification from the comments (thanks Yuki: Hit the beach. Hit the seawall. But one meter obviously did NOT "hit the plant".)

  • Temp have hit around 27 degree ( C ), danger area is 65 and above
  • Temps 28.7 ... rising slowly ... 0.2 degree higher in past hour
  • Company says would take a week to hit upper limit
