2020 was ushered in with solid performance by the Nasdaq Commodity Gold ER (NQCIGCER) Index (+3.8%) followed closely by the renowned Nasdaq-100 (NDX), which showed a gain of 3% during a particularly volatile month for most markets. Nasdaq OMX Green Economy (QGREEN) Index was up 1.5% as well.
Of those that struggled, the Nasdaq Commodity Natural Gas ER (NQCINGER) took the sharpest decline at -15.4%, followed closely by Nasdaq Commodity Crude Oil ER (NQCICLER) Index (-15.3%); both of which saw pullbacks as a reaction to the demand shocks from China’s Coronavirus crisis.
