Infosys LimitedINFY has teamed up with leading global IT giant International Business Machines Corporation IBM to deploy its proprietary cloud platform Bluemix for prototyping and developing state-of-the-art cloud apps for clients.

Retrospectively, Bluemix debuted in 2014, following a $1 billion investment from IBM, and currently boasts of owning more 120 app developer tools and multiple software-services. It received major commercial success and is currently one of the most effective "cloud foundry" worldwide.

Infosys and IBM aim to develop an Innovation Lab, which will be mainly powered by the BlueMix platform, for creating highly advanced app prototypes thereby enhancing their industry leadership. This apart, Infosys also intends to brush cloud app development skills of its personnel and utilize "cognitive computing" and analytics expertise of Bluemix platform to build better client apps.

Of late Infosys' alliance strategy is targeted at collaborating with leading technology providers, which allows it to take advantage of emerging technologies in a mutually beneficial and cost-competitive manner. As a matter of fact, during the second-quarter fiscal 2016, the company have entered into partnerships with new firms like Apigie, Software AG and NetSuite apart from strengthening lomg-standing partnerships with IT frontrunners like Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN , Microsoft MSFT , IBM, Huawei and Tableau.

Cloud computing is highly dynamic undergoing rapid changes primarily driven by cognitive computing, Big Data analytics and IoT applications. Forbes predict with multiple business enterprises adopting to cloud platforms, the cloud computing market is expected to have a compounded annual growth of 22.8% from 2014 to 2018.

Moreover, according to 2015 hybrid cloud market report, cloud platforms have become an integral part of providing IT infrastructure and application support at reasonable costs. Business enterprises are successfully slashing IT capital and operational expenses by deploying of these platforms.

Currently, the cloud market is primarily dominated by key players like, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM and Alphabet, that jointly had 54% market share as of July 2015.
