Iamgold Lower in TSX, U.S.; Receives $667 Million Cash from Sale of Tarkwa and Damang Interest

Iamgold Corp (IMG.TO) shares were lower by 5 cents at $19.30 on the Toronto Stock Exchange and were down by 12 cents at US$19.77 in the United States after the company announced the closing of the sale of its 18.9% interest in the Tarkwa and Damang gold mines in Ghana, West Africa to Gold Fields Limited for $667 million in cash.

The company said the transaction is "aligned with our strategy to focus on developing and operating mines that we own and operate."
