Iamgold Corp. (IMG.TO) shares were higher on the Toronto Stock Exchange at $19.93 by 4% and were also posting gains in the United States at US$20.64 on midday Tuesday.
Workers at the company's Rosebel gold mine have reportedly gone on strike, halting operations at the mine, as management demanded employees work an additional 4 hours on the final day of their 14-day shifts. The company's spokesman, Bob Tait, said that talks are under way to end the strike.
