How Top Advisors Set Themselves Apart

(New York)

There are several ways that top advisors set themselves apart from the pack, and in a new article from Barron's, these get laid out. The first thing that top teams do is capture more assets and have higher assets per advisor. Peer-led teams, where there are two or more equal partners, tend to have higher AUMs as well. Top teams also have better management systems in place and report that running their own business is not as challenging. Breadth of offerings is another characteristic of more successful practices. Finally, holding more in-person meetings is also prominent in the most successful firms.

FINSUM : While some are common sense, a couple of these are quite interesting. For example, one would not assume having in-person meetings is a characteristic of success in the new "robo" era.
