Nasdaq Vice President and Head of Western Region Listings Jeff Thomas spoke to Bloomberg Markets on January 12 to review the 2016 IPO environment and discuss the pipeline for 2017.
Despite the 2016 market being impacted by oil prices, Brexit and political uncertainty, Nasdaq welcomed companies across all industries, including trivago, Nutanix, Extraction Oil & Gas, and First Hawaiian Bank.
With nominal volatility following the election, Thomas expects a busy calendar year in 2017 as Nasdaq continues to see momentum with enterprise software companies, consumer technology providers, and a maturing pipeline developing in the oil and gas sector. Thomas also discusses the health of the private markets and what to watch for in 2017 given the current fundraising environment.
