Honeywell Aerospace, a part of Honeywell International Inc ( HON ), has recently been selected as the production aircraft engine supplier for the Textron ( TXT ) AirLand Scorpion aircraft - a proposed light attack and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.
Honeywell already has a business relationship with Textron. Selection of Honeywell's TFE731-40 engine for the Textron aircraft further strengthens this relationship. Honeywell has proven expertise in these engines and it continues to provide the aircraft with sufficient power and reduced operating costs.
This new family of engines is much more competitive than other engines available in the market. Its longer inspection intervals, lesser number of parts and specific fuel consumption gives the aircraft a competitive edge over others. Also, Honeywell's HTF7000 turbofan engines have recently secured new positions on the Challenger 350 and Legacy 500 business jets.
Honeywell's Aerospace is a leading global provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems and service solutions for aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military, space and airport operations. In the last quarter, Aerospace segment sales were flat year over year at $3,895 million.
Honeywell is a global diversified technology and manufacturing company with a wide range of aerospace products and services, control, sensing and security technologies for buildings, homes and industry, turbochargers, automotive products, specialty chemicals, electronic and advanced materials, process technology for refining and petrochemicals, and energy efficient products and solutions for homes, business and transportation.
