"Hey Siri, Give Us a Hint" Says Apple Before Keynote Event

Apple Inc.AAPL has kept the details of its Sep 9 event carefully under wraps. The only message that has been sent out with the invites is, 'Hey Siri, give us a hint.' To top it off, the iPhone maker has updated Siri over the last few days to produce some funny and completely irrelevant responses when a search is made for the cryptic tagline.

This has resulted in increased speculations as to what the company could be unveiling this time around.

Siri's Profile

Siri is Apple's voice-controlled personal assistant offering that uses natural speech recognition technology to carry out tasks. Additionally, Siri uses data on the device to provide personalized suggestions and options and can even be asked to send messages, schedule meetings and make phone calls. Recent technological improvements have placed the offering on a better footing.

In Jun 2015, Apple made Siri more intelligent by enabling it to become more proactive. The software can now scan mails, calendar information and other data to offer relevant suggestions and reminders. The company had also included the 'Hey, Siri' feature that triggers the software to take voice data input without even touching the device.

Apple Ecosystem and Siri

We believe that Apple intends to deploy Siri to enhance the whole of its ecosystem and thereby gain a significant edge over its peers. The smart voice-recognition feature has the capability to greatly enhance user experience given its ease of use and time saving capability. Additionally, it can be developed to seamlessly integrate all of the Apple devices.

The company that started deploying Siri in iPhone, iPad and iPod, is now taking an initiative to bring it to all other devices. Apple TV, which is expected to get an upgrade in tomorrow's event, is also likely to have Siri integration. This will give users more control over the device, allowing them to easily search for relevant content to watch.

The company has already made use of Siri in its HomeKit appliances, which significantly enhanced the company's prowess in the 'Internet of Things' market. Recently, Siri was also integrated with Apple Music, enabling users to play their favorite music without even opening the app. Siri can also be used in cars having either CarPlay or Eyes Free support.

Furthermore, Apple is also toying with the idea of deploying Siri for making purchases from iTunes and possibly other stores as well. However, that is some way off given the reliability and security standards required for making transactions.

To Conclude

We believe that Wednesday's event is a big one for Apple. Besides the iPhones, all eyes are on Siri. Apart from iPhone 6s and a revamped Apple TV, the company is also rumored to launch iPad Pro, iPad Mini 4 and additions to Apple Watch. We also expect the Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) company to provide more details for its upcoming iOS 9 and watchOS 2 as well.

Some other tech companies that also have prominent technology in the domain include Google Inc. GOOGL , Amazon.com Inc. AMZN and even Facebook, Inc. FB , which has reportedly been developing its own personal assistant software.
