Stocks moving on news include:

(+) Biogen (BIIB), which was gaining more than 38% in value after it reported Q3 non-GAAP earnings of $9.17 per share, up from $7.40 per share in the year-ago period and exceeding the consensus forecast of $8.27 per share provided by Capital IQ-polled analysts. Separately, the company said it plans to seek approval for an investigational treatment for early Alzheimer's disease from the US Food and Drug Administration.

(-) Centene (CNC) was retreating by more than 2% as it booked Q3 adjusted earnings of $0.96 per share, up from $0.89 per share in the same period a year ago and higher than the $0.95 per share average Street estimate provided by Capital IQ.

(-) Novartis AG (NVS) was over 1% lower after reporting Q3 core earnings of $1.41 per share, up from $1.22 per share in the 2018 quarter and beating the EPS consensus estimate of $1.33 from analysts polled by Capital IQ.
