Nasdaq and POLITICOkicked off the first of a series of live events focusing on how policy, politics and national trends are influencing the current fiscal landscape and the future of the national economy.
Our inaugural series focused on America's Fiscal Future and featured former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson as he discussed global economics, China, the implications for the U.S., the 2016 U.S. election and more.
What did Hank Paulson have to say about income disparity, Hillary Clinton and the 2016 Presidential election?
- "I think the income disparity problem is a huge issue, and I don't think there are easy solutions...CEO compensation is a big, sensitive issue and I wasn't enthused right after the crisis with what I saw with some of the CEO compensation because it inflames emotions...
- "What I'm really hoping is we will have a campaign where the ultimate candidate for president (once we get out of the primary season) will be talking about fundamental issues and not just pointing fingers...You can come up with all the scapegoats you want, but at the end of the day that's not going to solve the problem."
