‘Google Chirp’ Will Reportedly Take on Amazon Echo This Year

Google Chirp (NASDAQ: GOOG ,NASDAQ: GOOGL ) is the name of the next big thing from the tech giant.

The company is developing a speaker with a voice assistant in a bid to rival Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN ) and the online retailer's popular Echo .

The release date of the Google Chirp has yet to be announced, but it will likely be released later this year.

The Amazon Echo has already sold more than 3 million units.

GOOG stock and GOOGL stock are each up 0.1% Thursday. AMZN stock is up 0.8%.
