Gold strikes all-time high at $1,300 an ounce

Gold powered to a record at $1,300 an ounce on Monday as investors poured money into the precious metal on a weaker U.S. dollar and worries about the health of the global economy.

Spot gold stood at $1,299.15 by 2:24 a.m. ET. It has gained around 19 percent this year.
