U.S. stock futures were expected to open higher Wednesday as the freefall in oil stalls, and Wall Street looks to the Federal Reserve for confirmation of healthy economic growth. At 2:00 pm ET the Federal Open Market Committee is expected to unveil a 25 basis point increase to the Fed funds target rate.

Ahead of the open, the busy economic calendar kicks off with February CPI (expected +0.1% nominal, +0.2% core), February retail sales (expected +0.1%) and the Empire State manufacturing index (expected 15.4 from 18.7 prior).

Dow futures were 51 points above fair value.
