Friday's ETF with Unusual Volume: VPU

The Vanguard Utilities ETF ( VPU ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Friday, with over 693,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 219,000. Shares of VPU were down about 0.3% on the day.

Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Friday were AES ( AES ), trading up about 1.6% with over 5.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Southern ( SO ), down about 0.4% on volume of over 2.9 million shares. Nextera Energy ( NEE ) is the component faring the best Friday, higher by about 1.7% on the day, while Spark Energy ( SPKE ) is lagging other components of the Vanguard Utilities ETF, trading lower by about 7.4%.
