Friday Sector Leaders: Healthcare, Energy

Looking at the sectors faring best as of midday Friday, shares of Healthcare companies are outperforming other sectors, up 1.5%. Within that group, DENTSPLY SIRONA Inc (Symbol: XRAY) and ABIOMED, Inc. (Symbol: ABMD) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 17.3% and 4.8%, respectively. Among healthcare ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLV), which is up 1.3% on the day, and up 7.35% year-to-date. DENTSPLY SIRONA Inc, meanwhile, is up 31.66% year-to-date, and ABIOMED, Inc. is up 7.83% year-to-date. Combined, XRAY and ABMD make up approximately 0.7% of the underlying holdings of XLV.

The next best performing sector is the Energy sector, up 1.3%. Among large Energy stocks, Marathon Oil Corp. (Symbol: MRO) and EOG Resources, Inc. (Symbol: EOG) are the most notable, showing a gain of 2.5% and 2.1%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Energy stocks is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLE ), which is up 1.1% in midday trading, and up 15.07% on a year-to-date basis. Marathon Oil Corp., meanwhile, is up 18.94% year-to-date, and EOG Resources, Inc. is up 10.35% year-to-date. Combined, MRO and EOG make up approximately 5.3% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
