Friday Sector Laggards: Services, Energy

In afternoon trading on Friday, Services stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.5% loss. Within that group, CBS Corp (Symbol: CBS) and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (Symbol: CMG) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 3.3% and 2.9%, respectively. Among the largest ETFs , one ETF closely following services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (Symbol: IYC), which is down 0.5% on the day, and up 3.43% year-to-date. CBS Corp, meanwhile, is up 19.55% year-to-date, and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc, is down 15.45% year-to-date. Combined, CBS and CMG make up approximately 1.2% of the underlying holdings of IYC.

The next worst performing sector is the Energy sector, showing a 0.4% loss. Among large Energy stocks, Williams Cos Inc (Symbol: WMB) and Marathon Petroleum Corp. (Symbol: MPC) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.2% and 1.8%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Energy stocks is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLE ), which is down 0.3% in midday trading, and up 15.97% on a year-to-date basis. Williams Cos Inc , meanwhile, is down 5.18% year-to-date, and Marathon Petroleum Corp., is down 27.93% year-to-date. Combined, WMB and MPC make up approximately 3.1% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
