Ford Motor Co. ( F ) announced that it will be launching the Ford AppLink platform in the three new Asia Pacific markets in 2015. This technology, which is operational in China, India and Australia, will now be introduced in Taiwan, New Zealand and Thailand. In addition, the automaker will be introducing the Emergency Assistance technology and displaying the all-new Ford Mustang in the Taiwan market.

Ford plans to expand its presence in Asia Pacific with the launch of this technology in and introduction of the all-new Ford Mustang, which will be marketed in Asia Pacific from 2015. The car combines smart technology with outstanding performance.

Ford AppLink provides in-car connectivity. It helps users to control apps through voice controls. The Emergency Assistance with the help of Ford's in-car connectivity platform, SYNC, connects the vehicle occupants to emergency responders in case of an accident. It also provides the emergency operators with GPS location details.

Ford is also planning to introduce a new generation of steering technology - Adaptive Steering - in its cars. This new technology will help customers to operate the vehicle more easily at low speeds and inadequate spaces. In addition, the technology will provide a better driving experience at high speeds.

Ford, in collaboration with Takata, which is a leading supplier of automotive steering and safety systems and a Ford Aligned Business Framework partner, developed the Adaptive Steering system. The new technology will be featuring in some of the vehicles from the beginning of the next year. Ford believes that this new steering technology will support the company's strategy of offering a pleasurable driving experience to its customers.

This new steering technology alters the ratio between the driver's actions at the steering wheel, i.e. the number of turns of the steering wheel, and how much the front wheels turn. Whereas in traditional vehicles there is a fixed steering ratio, this technology optimizes the steering response according to the vehicle speed.

When the vehicle is at a low speed, like in a parking area, this technology enables it to easily turn with a fewer turns of the steering wheel. At high speeds the system optimizes the steering response to driver input, making the turns more precise and smooth. Adaptive steering will offer the driver a more comfortable and enjoyable ride.

Ford can include the precision-controlled actuator inside the traditional steering system without any alteration. This actuator offers better driving experience at all speeds, regardless of the size or class of the vehicle.

Recently, Ford decided to offer licenses to use its patented inflatable safety belt technology, which is used in Ford Explorer, Flex, Fusion, 2015 F-150 and Lincoln MKT and MKZ. The automaker also purchased additional inflatable safety belt patents from United Technologies Corp. ( UTX ), a company involved in the supply of technology products and services to building systems and aerospace industries, in order to facilitate the licensing process.
