Top Financial Stocks
Financial stocks were narrowly lower this afternoon, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index slipping about 0.1% and the S&P Financial 100 Index also falling about 0.1%.
In company news, GAIN Capital Holdings ( GCAP ) rose Tuesday after the brokerage company today reported Q3 non-GAAP earnings and revenue that beat analyst projections.
Excluding one-time items, the company earned $0.31 per share during the three months ended Sept. 30, down from a $0.37 per share profit during the same quarter last year and exceeding Wall Street opinion looking for a $0.17 per share adjusted gain. Revenues rose 23.3% from year-ago levels to $127.9 million, also topping the $123.1 million Capital IQ consensus.
GCAP shares were up nearly 8% at $8.18 each this afternoon, easing from a session high of $8.32 a share.
