Financial Sector Update for 07/15/2015: BLK, BAC, USB, PNC

Financial shares were higher in pre-market trade Wednesday as earnings season continues with more better-than-expected results.

In financial stocks news, Bank of America ( BAC ) shares were up more than 3% after it reported positive Q2 results with revenues up from a year prior to $22.1 billion, better than expectations. Earnings were $0.45 per share.

And, PNC Financial Services Group ( PNC ) reported Q2 results that topped the Street view on both earnings per share and total revenues while BlackRock ( BLK ), an investment management company, reported Q2 results that beat the Street view on both earnings per share and total revenues.

Finally, U.S. Bancorp ( USB ) said reported Q2 net income was $1,483 million, or $0.80 per diluted common share, compared with $1.495 million, or $0.78 per diluted common share, in Q2 2014.

Analysts were expecting $0.80 per share, according to Thomson Reuters estimates while Cap IQ pegged earnings at $0.81. USB shares edged up in Wednesday's pre-market trade.
