Financial shares were positioning higher in pre-market trade Wednesday.

In financial stocks news, Blackstone ( BX ) was steady in pre-market trade Wednesday while Reuters reports the private-equity firm and Corsair Capital are in talks to acquire a major stake in First Eagle Investment Management, valuing the company at around $4 billion.

Shares of Blackstone were up slightly at 0.15% in a 52-week range of $26.56 - 39.62.

And, Annaly Capital Management ( NLY ), a mortgage real estate investment trust, has been downgraded by analysts at FBR Capital Markets to an underperform rating from market perform.

The firm also lowered its price target on the stock to $10 from $12 a share. Shares of NLY were down 0.86% to $10.33, and have a 52-week trading range of $10.29 - $11.95.
