Financial Sector Update for 01/15/2016: EPR, GLBZ, AHPI

Financial stocks were sharply lower today, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index sinking almost 3.3% and the S&P Financial 100 Index falling over 2.8%.

In company news, EPR Properties ( EPR ) declined Friday after the real estate investment trust today priced a $126.6 million public offering of 2.3 million shares of its common stock at $56.27 apiece, a 2.6% discount to yesterday's closing price for the stock.

The company expects to use net proceeds to repay outstanding debt owed under its unsecured revolving credit facility. It also plans to fund its acquisition pipeline and build-to-suit projects with the proceeds.

EPR shares were down over 4% at $55.38 apiece, earlier sinking to a session low of $54.01 a share.

In other sector news,

(+) GLBZ, (+2.2%) Increases quarterly dividend by 42.8% over prior distribution to $0.10 per share, payable Jan. 29 to shareholders of record on Jan. 18.

(-) AHP, (-9.6%) Sessa Capital nominates five director candidates to its board, citing "corporate governance failures (that) have been an unshakable burden" on the company.
