FedEx (FDX) Misses Q1 Earnings and Revenue Estimates

FedEx (FDX) came out with quarterly earnings of $3.44 per share, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.69 per share. This compares to earnings of $4.37 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -6.78%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this package delivery company would post earnings of $6.91 per share when it actually produced earnings of $6.87, delivering a surprise of -0.58%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates just once.

FedEx, which belongs to the Zacks Transportation - Air Freight and Cargo industry, posted revenues of $23.2 billion for the quarter ended August 2022, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.06%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $22 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates three times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.
