American depository receipts of European stocks were trading 0.37% higher at 140.75 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Wednesday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by cell therapy company TiGenix ( TIG ), and biopharmaceutical company Forward Pharma ( FWP ), which rose 7.8% and 4.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ), up 3.5%, and marketing company Criteo ( CRTO ), which rose up 2.2%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ), and geophysical equipment company CGG (CGG), which fell 6.5% and 6.4% respectively. They were followed by hotel booking and comparison site Trivago (TRVG), down 1.2%, and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), down 0.6%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), and gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), which lost 3.5% and 2.4% respectively. They were followed by information and analytics provider RELX (RELX), up 2%, and media and education company Pearson (PSO), up 1.2%.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by communications firm WPP (WPP), and mining company BHP Billiton (BBL), which lost 1.1% and 0.5% respectively. Consumer products company Unilever plc (UL) was down 0.5% and biotech firm Shire (SHPG) edged lower 0.2%.
