European ADRs Move Higher in Tuesday Trading

American Depositary Receipts of European stocks were trading 1.09% higher at 136.29 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Tuesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by communications services provider VEON ( VEON ), which jumped 18.6%, followed by telecommunications provider Telecom Italia ( TI ), cell therapy company TiGenix ( TIG ) and geophysical equipment company CGG ( CGG ), which rose 4.7%, 4.1%, and 4.0% respectively.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by biotech firm ERYTECH Pharma ( ERYP ), and online dating site operator Spark Networks (LOV), which lost 8.2% and 3.0% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Forward Pharma (FWP), and semiconductor firm Sequans Communications (SQNS), which shed 3% and 1%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), which surged 17.2%, followed by biopharmaceutical firm NuCana (NCNA), which climbed 4%. Consumer goods company British American Tobacco (BTI), and mining company BHP Billiton (BBL) were up 2.8% and 2.6% respectively.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by medical equipment maker Smith & Nephew (SNN), and pharmaceutical company Avadel (AVDL), which dropped 1.5% and 1% respectively. They were followed by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which were off 0.5% each.
