American depository receipts of European stocks were 0.2% higher at 124.81 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Monday morning.
Gainers in Continental Europe were led by Flamel Technologies ( FLML ), a French pharmaceutical company, 4.7% higher, followed by Luxottica ( LUX ), a materials technology company, 3.1% higher and Orange ( ORAN ), a French telecommunication services company, up by 2.9%.
In the UK, Amarin ( AMRN ), a biopharmaceutical company, was 3.3% higher, followed by Midatech ( MTP ), an early-stage biopharmaceutical company, up by 1.1% and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), 1.0% higher.
Decliners in Continental Europe were led by CGG (CGG), a manufacturer of geophysical equipment, 3.1% lower, followed by Ascendis Pharma (ASND), a Danish clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, down by 2.8% and Eni (E), an oil and gas exploration and production company, 2.3% lower.
And, in the UK, Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, was 2.1% lower, followed by Trinity Biotech (TRIB), a manufacturer of medical diagnostic products, down by 1.6% and Luxfer (LXFR), a company specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of high-performance materials, trading 1.3% lower.
