American depository receipts of European stocks were trading 0.1% higher at 126.17 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Thursday morning.
Gainers in Continental Europe were led by oil and gas production companies Statoil ( STO ), Total ( TOT ) and Eni ( E ), 3.4%, 2.5% and 1.4% higher, respectively.
In the UK, biopharmaceutical company Amarin ( AMRN ) rose by 3.6% while the A and B Shares of oil and gas production company Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A and RDS.B) were 3.2% and 2.9% higher, respectively.
Decliners in Continental Europe were led by medical device designer Edap ( EDAP ), 6.1% lower, followed by Dutch technology company ASML - New York Shares (ASML), down by 2.6%, and telecommunication company Orange (ORAN), 2.3% lower.
And, in the UK, pharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) contracted by 3.0% while telecommunication company Vodafone Group (VOD) slid by 1.9% and microprocessor designer ARM (ARMH) edged 1.5% lower.
