American depository receipts of European stocks were trading 0.7% higher at 127.14 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Friday morning.
Gainers in Continental Europe were led by medical device designer Edap ( EDAP ), 21.1% higher, followed by National Bank of Greece ( NBG ), up by 6.4% and steel and mining company ArcelorMittal ( MT ), 3.8% higher.
In the UK, gold mining company Randgold Resources ( GOLD ), advanced by 5.4% while oil and gas production companies BP ( BP ) and Royal Dutch Shell - A shares (RDS.A), 2.8% and 2.0% higher, respectively.
Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Telecom Italia (TI), an Italy-based company engaged in the communications sector, 3.3% lower while Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) was edged down by 1.7%.
And, in the UK, pharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) slid by 5.1% while cruise company Carnival (CUK), was 1.5% lower and building materials company CRH (CRH), contracted by 1.5%.
