American depository receipts of European stocks were 0.2% lower at 123.83 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Tuesday morning.
Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Sequans Communications ( SQNS ), a French developer of chipset solutions, 5.8% lower, followed by Materialise ( MTLS ), a Belgian provider of 3D printing software and services, down by 3.0% and ArcelorMittal ( MT ), a Luxembourg steelmaker, 1.3% lower. DBV Technologies ( DBVT ), a French clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, was 1.1% lower.
In the UK, mining company Rio Tinto ( RIO ) and CRH, a building materials company, were both down by 1.3% and Prudential (PUK), a financial services group, was 1.1% lower.
Gainers in Continental Europe were led by Nabriva Therapeutics (NBRV), an Austria-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, 2.9% higher, followed by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), 2.2% higher and Logitech (LOGI), a Swiss hardware and software products developer, up by 1.1%. Ascendis Pharma (ASND), a Danish clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, was 0.8% higher.
And, in the UK, Pearson (PSO), an education company, was 2.1% higher, followed by pharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), Midatech Pharma (MTP) and Amarin (AMRN), up by 1.7%, 1.3% and 1.2%, respectively.
