European ADRs Edge Higher as Pharma Stocks See Mixed Fortunes

American depository receipts of European stocks were 0.5% higher at 115.17 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Friday morning.

Gainers in Continental Europe were led by Nokia ( NOK ), a technology investor, 3.8% higher, followed by Unilever ( UN ), a Dutch consumer goods company, up by 2.4% and Marine Harvest ( MHG ), a Norwegian seafood company, also trading 2.4% higher. Fresenius Medical Care ( FMS ), a German kidney dialysis company, was also 2.4% higher.

In the UK, Astrazeneca ( AZN ), a biopharmaceutical company, was 2.6% higher, followed by InterContinental Hotels (IHG), a hotel chain, up by 2.3% and GlaxoSmithKline, a healthcare company, 2.1% higher.

Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Nabriva Therapeutics (NBRV), an Austria-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, 4.0% lower, followed by voxelJet (VJET), a German three-dimensional printer manufacturer, down by 2.2% and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), a Spanish financial group, 1.6% lower.

And, in the UK, Amec Foster Wheeler (AMFW), a global engineering conglomerate, was down by 2.7%, followed by Amarin (AMRN), a biopharmaceutical company, 2.6% lower and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), down by 1.8%.
