European ADRs Advance as Miners Post Gains

American depository receipts of European stocks were trading 1.1% higher at 146.54 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Thursday.

Gainers in Continental Europe were led by telecommunication company Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericcson ( ERIC ), 2.2% higher, followed by Spanish bank Banco Santander ( SAN ), 1.9% higher and oil and gas production company Statoil ( STO ), up by 1.8%. Gold mining company Randgold Resources ( GOLD ) advanced by 0.1%.

In the UK, diversified mining company BHP Billiton ( BBL ) jumped 2.2% while Amec Foster Wheeler (AMFW), a company which is engaged in designing, delivering and maintaining infrastructure assets, rose by 1.7% and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN) expanded by 1.7%.

Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Natuzzi (NTZ), a manufacturer of furniture 5.0% lower, followed by Dutch technology company ASML - New York Shares (ASML), 3.8% lower, and Sequans Communications (SQNS), a semiconductor solutions provider, down by 3.6%.

In the UK, oil and gas production company BP (BP) edged down by 0.7% while pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN) contracted by 0.3%.
