Euro zone GDP grows by 0.5%

Investing.com - The rate of economic growth in the euro zone accelerated in the fourth quarter, according to official data released on Tuesday.

Eurostat, the European Union's statistics agency, said gross domestic product grew 0.5% in the three months to December, up from 0.4% in the third quarter.

Economists had forecast growth of 0.4%.

The annual rate of growth came in at 1.8%, unchanged from the previous quarter.

For 2016 as a whole, the euro zone economy grew by 1.8%, up from 1.5% in 2015.
