Energy Sector Update for 12/24/2018: XOM, ENB, RDC, COP, CVX, SLB, OXY

Energy stocks were moslty lower in Monday's pre-market trading . West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery was $0.87 lower to $44.72 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. The global benchmark Brent crude February contract lost $0.54 to $53.28 per barrel and January natural gas futures were down 21 cents at $3.61 per 1 million BTU.

In other sector news:

(-) Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) was trading more than 1% lower after reports that a company ship conducting seismic work in deep-water off the coast of Guyana was "intercepted" by a Venezuelan naval vessel.

(=) Enbridge ( ENB ) was unchanged even after Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton's administration Dec. 21 said it appealed the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission's approval of the company's plan to replace its Line 3 oil pipeline in Minnesota.

(=) Rowan Companies ( RDC ) was flat after it was awarded a 180-day contract in Trinidad for the Ralph Coffman, one of its 240-C Class harsh environment jack-up rigs. The contract is expected to begin in April.
