Energy Sector Update for 12/15/2015: USO, UNG, WTI

Energy shares were mainly unchanged in pre-market trade on Tuesday as crude oil futures registered minor gains.

Light, sweet crude oil for January delivery was up 0.2% at $36.54 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was 1.8% higher at $1.09 per gallon while natural gas was down 1.5% at $1.86 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was up 1.0% at $11.27 while the United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was down 0.8% at $7.35.

And, in other energy news, oil and gas producer W&T Offshore ( WTI ) Tuesday said the exploration of the Ewing Banks 954 A-8 well led to the discovery of high quality pay sands, which should allow for higher reserve recovery.

Shares in the company were unchanged at $2.66 pre-bell. This is within the lower band of the stock's 52 week trading range between $2.51 and $7.95.
