Energy Sector Update for 10/15/2018: TOT, NINE, XOM, CVX, COP, SLB, OXY

Energy stocks were mostly up in pre-market trading Monday.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil for November delivery was up $0.49 to $71.83 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange while the global benchmark Brent crude December contract was $0.69 higher to $81.12 per barrel. November natural gas futures were also $0.08 higher at $3.24 per 1 million BTU.

In other sector news:

(+) Total ( TOT ) ADRs were more than 1% higher after the oil major said that it opened a new lubricants oil blending plant in Russia's Kaluga region, designed to produce the entire range of Total and Elf lubricants products.

(=) Nine Energy Service ( NINE ) was flat after it disclosed that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Magnum Oil Tools International, a downhole technology provider serving the global oil and gas industry, through a cash and share deal valued at $493 million.
