Energy shares were mainly unchanged in pre-market trade on Wednesday as crude oil futures were lower.

Light, sweet crude oil for October delivery was down 0.7% at $44.58 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was 1.2% lower at $0.85 per gallon while natural gas was 2.1% higher at $1.61 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 0.6% at $10.31 while the United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was up 1.1% at $8.62.
