Top Energy Stocks
Energy shares were mainly higher in pre-market trade on Thursday as crude oil futures extended Wednesday's gains while Canadian wildfires disrupted oil production in Alberta.
Light, sweet crude oil for June delivery was up 4.8% at $45.86 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was 2.7% higher at $0.85 per gallon while natural gas was 0.8% higher at $1.61 British thermal units.
In other energy news, Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ), a producer of natural gas, oil and natural gas liquids, reported Thursday its financial results for Q1 2016 that topped analyst estimates.
Shares in the company were 12.2% higher at $6.34 pre-bell. The stock has traded between $1.50 and $15.76 over the past 52 weeks.
