Energy Sector Update for 03/18/2015: USO, UNG, RSPP

Energy shares were lower in pre-market trading Wednesday as crude-oil futures declined.

Light, sweet crude oil for April delivery was down 1.1% at $42.36 per barrel recently. In other energy futures, heating oil was up 0.2% at $1.59 per gallon while natural gas was down 1.4% at $2.57 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 1.8% at $15.67. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was down 1.5% at $14.18.

In other energy news, RSP Permian ( RSPP ) late Tuesday said the 9 million common shares being sold in a public offering will be priced at $25.80 each. Of the total, 5 million are issued by the company, with the remaining 4 million shares being sold by certain shareholders. Gross proceeds to the company and the shareholders are $129 million and $103.2 million, respectively. Shares were trading 5.3% lower at $25.63 during pre-market trading. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has traded between $19.36 and $33.67.
