Energy shares were mainly higher in pre-market trade on Wednesday as crude oil futures were lower.

Light, sweet crude oil for March delivery was down 0.6% at $52.88 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was 1.7% lower at $0.92 per gallon while natural gas was 1.0% lower at $1.61 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 0.4% at $11.33 while the United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was down 0.2% at $8.26.
