ECONOMICS: European Stock Markets Extending Losses

European stock markets are extending losses, led by a more than 2% drop in the DAX, which is being weighed down by concerns that the emissions scandal is not confined to just Volkswagen. For its part, Volkswagen bounced back after the resignation of CEO Martin Winterkorn. But BMW and Mercedes are under pressure after an unconfirmed report of manipulations in emission tests elsewhere. Other European automakers are also heading south as the European Commission urged EU member states to carry out investigations at national level. The overall Euro Stoxx was down 1.28%.
