DuPont 's DD subsidiary, DuPont Displays declared that it has opened a world-class scale-up manufacturing unit for producing large quantities of advanced materials required for large-format, solution-based printed Organic Light Emitting Diode ("OLED") displays.

The facility is located at the DuPont Stine-Haskell Research Center in Newark, DE, near the company's headquarters. These advanced materials will help manufacturers to create brighter, long lasting, more vibrant and affordable OLED displays compared to conventional OLED TVs.

The new manufacturing facility is designed for large-scale production and can support production of multiple product lines at the same time. It was also designed taking into consideration certain factors like employee safety and environmental responsibility. With this facility, the company aims to produce superior-quality materials with the highest purity. DuPont invested more than $20 million alongside receiving a grant from the state of Delaware in 2012 for this project.

According to Avi Avula, global business director, DuPont Displays, the company aims to slash the cost of large-sized OLED TVs to less than $1000 by 2020 with the help of its superior solution OLED materials. Thus, the new facility is headed toward meeting that goal and fulfilling the future growth expectations of the OLED TV industry. Also, analysts predict that this industry will grow by more than 70% over the next few years and thus, large quantities of highly sophisticated OLED materials will be in demand.

DuPont, which has been developing its portfolio of OLED materials for the last 15 years, has created superior-quality, advanced materials for both solution and evaporative applications owing to their durability and deep color. Alongside its recent collaboration with an inkjet equipment maker for advanced solution printed displays, the company is now actively involved with leading OLED display manufacturers to introduce printed OLED technology to the market as soon as possible.

DuPont specializes in offering highly engineered, next-generation OLED materials with the help of DuPont Displays which has 15 years of experience in advanced materials. These support evaporative and solution-based OLED technologies, thus meeting consumer demands. The solutions are commercially feasible for TVs and other large-format displays.
