Dish Network Corp Customers Escape a Viacom, Inc. Blackout

Dish Network Corp ( DISH ) customers are still able to watch channels belonging to Viacom, Inc. ( VIA , VIAB ).

Dish Network announced that it has signed a new five-year agreement with Viacom that will allow it to continue broadcasting the company's channels. This includes Comedy Central, BET, Spike, MTV, Nickelodeon and more.

The agreement also makes it so that some content from Viacom will now start showing up on Dish Network's Sling TV. Details of the deal between the two companies were not disclosed.

Dish Network and Viacom's past agreement expired on Wednesday and there were fears that the latter's channels would be pulled from the satellite service. Both companies noted that there were problems with negotiations.

DISH shares were up 1% while VIA and VIAB shares were up 10% Thursday afternoon.
