(-) Kohl's (KSS), which was declining by more than 10% after the department store operator said Q1 adjusted earnings were $0.61 per share, down from $0.64 a year ago and missing the $0.67 average estimate from analysts polled by Capital IQ.
(-) JC Penney (JCP) was nearly 7% lower as the retailer posted a wider-than-expected Q1 loss and another decline in same-store sales. The fiscal Q1 adjusted loss of $0.46 per share.
(+) AutoZone (AZO) was gaining more than 2% in value after booking fiscal Q3 earnings of $15.99 per share, up from $13.42 in the comparable period a year ago and exceeding the estimate of $15.19 from analysts polled by Capital IQ.
