Consumer stocks were ending mostly higher, with shares of consumer staples companies in the S&P 500 rising about 0.4% while shares of consumer discretionary firms in the S&P 500 added 0.6% in value today.

In company news, Bon-Ton Stores ( BONT ) extended its big advance to a second session after the department store retailer said it was expanding its Cyber Monday sale to a second day stating this Sunday, Nov. 29.

Shoppers also will receive $50 off their online purchases of $100 or more, the company said.

BONT shares were up over 36% at $2.40 each, earlier reaching a high of $2.49 a share today.

In other sector news,

(+) SNOW, Agrees to $85 mln sale of its Intrawest Resort Club Group to Diamond Resorts ( DRII ).

(-) BSI, Postpones the record date for its upcoming principal and interest payment on its Series C debentures until Dec. 3. Payment date also delayed until Dec. 15 following discussions with the bondholders.
