Consumer shares were mainly lower ahead of the opening bell on Friday.

In consumer stocks news, Amazon.com ( AMZN ) received a significant increase in its price target Friday to $1,000 per share from $840 from RBC Capital Markets, which reported encouraging results from an online consumer survey and said the online retailer's fundamentals "have never been stronger."

Shares in Amazon were 0.6% higher at $774.412 pre-bell. The stock has traded between $474 and $790.79 over the past 52 weeks.
