Consumer shares were generally higher ahead of the opening bell Wednesday, boosted by gains for clothing companies.
In consumer stocks news, multi-screen theater operator Regal Entertainment Group ( RGC ) shares were upgraded to buy from long-term buy by Hilliard Lyons.
Shares in the company were unchanged at $18.33 pre-bell. Over the past 52 weeks, the company has traded between $17.62 and $24.52.
Clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch Company ( ANF ) shares soared after the company said that it lost a penny per share in Q2 net and earned $0.12 per share adjusted. That was better than estimates for a loss of $0.04 GAAP and a nickel normalized.
Shares in the company were 15.6% higher at $19.97 pre-bell. Over the past 52 weeks, the company has traded between $15.42 and $45.50.
And Chico's FAS ( CHS ), a retailer of women's casual-to-dressy clothing, reported Q2 adjusted net income of $35.5 million compared to net income of $30.1 million for the thirteen weeks ended August 2, 2014, and Q2 2015 adjusted earnings per diluted share of $0.25 compared to earnings per diluted share of $0.20 in last year's second quarter.
Shares in the company were 7.0% higher at $14.80 pre-bell. Over the past 52 weeks, the company has traded between $13.25 and $18.98.
