Consumer stocks continue to tilt higher today, with shares of consumer staples companies in the S&P 500 climbing less than 0.1% this afternoon while shares of consumer discretionary firms in the S&P 500 were gaining more than 0.6%.

Among consumer stocks moving on news:

+ Lions Gate Entertainment (LGF-A,LGF-B) edged higher Monday after the movie and television studio Monday said it has signed a long-term agreement with music publisher Universal Music Publishing Group, which will represent Lionsgate's music publishing properties worldwide, including musical compositions and scores. The companies also will work together to create in-house opportunities by leveraging Universal Music's global roster of songwriters and music catalog for creative use in Lionsgate content.

In other sector news:

+ Nevada Gold & Casinos Inc. ( UWN ) raced almost 12% at one point Monday after the mini-casino operator late Friday said it was in exclusive discussions to sell the company. The company did not identify the potential buyer and did not provide additional details about the ongoing talks while board chairman William Sherlock said the company will not provide updates any until the talks either produce a deal or otherwise conclude.

- Ryanair Holdings ( RYAAY ) was narrowly lower Monday after German pilots working for the budget carrier have voted to strike and could leave their cockpits with 24 hours notice, adding to Ryanair's labor woes. More than 96% of Vereinigung Cockpit members reportedly favored the strike, according to news briefs published Monday. Earlier, the airline reported a 4% rise in July traffic over year-aqo levels.

- LGI Homes ( LGIH ) fell nearly 3% on Monday, after the homebuilder closed on fewer homes during July compared with July 2017. Also, through the first seven months of the year, the company closed 3,597 home sales, a 25.6% increase to the same period last year.
